Grace Scora
On Sunday August 3rd, 2008 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Marion Grace Scora, a longtime resident of MacGregor passed away peacefully, with her family by her side.
The funeral service will be held at the MacGregor United Church on Wednesday August 6th at 2pm with the Rev. Quentin Robinson officiating.
Interment will follow in the family plot at the MacGregor Cemetery.
Mom was born on May 1st, 1924, daughter of Andrew and Frances Arthur at Dewar Lake, Saskatchewan. During the thirties her family moved to the Mayfeld district near Gladstone where she finished her education. She attended normal school in Winnipeg and taught at Macaulay School. She married John Scora in 1945 and they farmed near MacGregor. They moved into town in 1986 where Mom resided until becoming a resident of the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage in 2006.
Mom was an active member of the MacGregor United Church, the Hospital Aid, Sharon Chapter #52 of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed curling and square dancing. During the years on the farm, she worked alongside Johnny, grew a large garden to feed the family through the winter, and baked delicious bread and cinnamon buns. She loved her grandchildren, playing endless board games, reading stories and teaching them to bake bread. Mom also loved to travel!
She is predeceased by her husband John, her brothers Gordon, Henry and Walter and her sisters Marjorie McIntyre and Velma Arthur. She is remembered fondly by her family; Betty (Don) O’Coffey of Victoria, BC, Glenda (Ron) Parent of Calgary, Art (Bev) of Carman, Gay (Ken) Boese of Steinbach, Gloria (Rick) Gallant of Letellier, Daryl (Margaret) of Whitby, Ont., and Kathy (Gary) Rintoul of Vita, along with 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Frances Stewart of Winnipeg, Ruth (Eldon) McLean of Brandon, 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Arthur of Gladstone and Nellie Primeau of Windsor and many nieces and nephews.
We would especially like to thank the staff at Portage Lions Prairie Manor for the love and care they offered Grace.
