Carl Grant Simpson
Peacefully, on Sunday, August 31. 2008 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Carl Grant Simpson of Rural Portage, beloved husband of Helen Simpson passed away at the age of 81 years.
Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Friday, September 5, 2008 at 2:00 PM with the Venerable Norman Collier officiating.
Interment will follow at a later date.
Carl was born on June 8, 1927 at Oaklake, Manitoba. At a very young age the family moved to Maryfield, Saskatchewan where Carl was raised and received his education. At the age of eighteen he moved to Brandon where he began his career in construction. In September 1951 he married Helen Hunt in Brandon. In February 1952 he joined th RCAF. For the next 23 years he was posted in several communities throughout Canada and Europe, finally arriving in Portage in 1968 where they lived until present. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #75 in Rivers and the ANAF in Portage. He coached slow pitch in Portage, and also loved snooker and golf. In his younger man he enjoyed curling.
Predeceased by his parents; Fred & Mary, four brothers: John, Cecil, Lloyd and Glen; one sister Vivian (Ted) Radke. He leaves to mourn his passing his dearly beloved wife Helen, sons Bryan (Jean) of Cold Lake, AB and Terry (Darlene) of Comax, BC; grandchildren Angela (Kevin) McAllister, Janelle (Jeremy) Congo, Carolyn and Anthony Simpson; great grandfather of Linden McAllister; sister-in-law Lena of Maryfield, Sask; and several nieces and nephews.
