Evelyn Frances Loretta Dyer
On Monday, June 14, 2010, at the Lions Prairie Manor, Evelyn Frances Loretta Dyer of Portage la Prairie, widow of the late Merle Edmund Dyer passed away at the age of 97 years
Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM with the Venerable Norman Collier officiating.
Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery.
Evelyn was born on February 24, 1913, daughter of Bella & Henry Lee at Portage la Prairie where she was raised and received her education. In 1939 she married Merle Dyer and they continued to reside in Portage. She was employed at Moxley restaurant and later at Dick’s café where she worked for several years. She then became employed at the Manitoba Developmental Centre as a Nursing Assistance where she worked until her retirement in 1978. She was presented with the Dr Atchison Award for excelling in her work.
Evelyn was a member of St Mary’s La Prairie Anglican Church. Her interests included reading, gardening, watching TV and riding her bike.
Predeceased by her husband Merle in 1964, brothers Gordon & George (Red) sister Alma Little, nephews Stan Lee, Jack Little and Raymond Little, she leaves to mourn her passing her nephew Gordon Little, nieces Geraldine Stewart (Jim), Bernice Lesko and Karine Lee and several great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
As Evelyn donated blood regularly throughout her lifetime, should friends so desire, in memory of Evelyn, make a blood donation at the next Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic or donate to a charity of your choice.
