Regina Juergens
Regina Juergens, born in Germany on November 30th, 1928, passed away peacefully on July 4th , 2010 at the Portage General Hospital.
A celebration of her life will take place at the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM. The service will terminate at the chapel.
She leaves behind Hubert, her beloved husband of 58 years, her sisters Maria (Neil Graham) in Calgary, Hedwig in Belgium, Theresia (Johannes Benning) in Germany, sister-in-laws Josefa and Elisabeth and many nieces, nephews and friends across Canada and Europe. She leaves us with many wonderful memories and will be sadly missed.
Regina met and fell in love with Hubert Juergens after World War II. They came to Manitoba in 1952 and moved to Portage La Prairie where they built their lives. Regina worked as a Cook and Food supervisor at the Manitoba Developmental Centre for 25 years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and travelling across Canada and Europe. She took great joy in her family, especially her nieces, nephews and her great nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to friends Heide Wells, Betty and Ken Morrison, and Bonnie and Darren Van den Bussche for their support and to Dr. Jim Price, the nurses and all the health care workers at the Portage General Hospital who cared for Regina with compassion.
