Edna Mae Streick

On Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Lion’s Prairie Manor, Edna Streick, of Portage la Prairie, beloved wife of the late George Streick, passed away at the age of 81 years.

Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Pastor John Blum officiating.

Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Edna was born on May 13, 1929, daughter of Reinhold and Mary Remus, at Emerson, MB, where she was raised and received her education at Manchester and Emerson Schools. In 1947 she married George Streick and they farmed in the Spring Bank District until 1962 when they moved to Portage la Prairie. She was employed at the StyleRite Store in the fabric dept and was also employed at Moccasin Square selling plants.

Edna was a member of the Friedensthal Lutheran Church and the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Portage la Prairie, MB. She enjoyed quilting and made quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her earlier years she enjoyed curling. She took great pride growing her garden, her plants and flowers. She enjoyed going out for coffee with her family and friends.

Predeceased by her husband George; brother George and sisters, Alma Bohn, Beatrice Schewe and Mabel Hadden. Edna leaves to mourn her passing her children Valerie (Stan) James and Marvin (Maureen) Streick; four grandchildren, Kim, Travis (Lori), Aaron and Erica; four great grandchildren, Tyler, Cole, Seth and Mia; one brother Arthur; and several nieces and nephews.
