            On Friday, June 10, 2016, George Edward Giesbrecht, of Portage la Prairie, beloved husband of Eva Giesbrecht, passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 80 years.

             Viewing will be held in the Omega Funeral Home on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

            Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Cemetery, Austin, MB.

            Predeceased by his parents, sister Margaret, son Peter and an infant daughter Baby; George is survived by his wife Eva; his children Irene Overton (Mark) and David (Crystal); grandchildren Chris (Tracey) and Marina; great grandchildren Joe, Britany, Oliver, and Natasha; great-great grandson Carter; his siblings Dave (Anne Marie), Ike (Elaine), Pat (Bill), Tina (Charles) and Phillip (Robin); daughter-in-law Kathryn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Donations in memory of George may be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 0K8.
