Janet Nancy Hunt (nee Boyachek)

November 10, 1954 – May 21, 2016

On Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the Boundary Trails Medical Centre in Morden, Janet Hunt, passed peacefully at the age of 61, with her family at her side.

Please note change in service time

Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Oakville Community Hall. Interment will be held at a later date.

She was predeceased by her parents Daniel and Margaret Boyachek.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Garry; two children: Tanis Shackleford (Mike), Danna Collins (Todd); and two grandchildren Brooke and Hayden Collins; siblings: Alex, James (Sandra), Ruth Garrioch (Allan), Owen, and Ellen Adams (Russ); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jan was born in Portage la Prairie and raised on the family farm in South Ridge district, attending South Ridge School.

She worked for a couple of years at Fleetwood Sylvania and the Portage Co-op before starting her 38 year career with MCIC / MASC. She met and married Garry Hunt and they made their home south of Oakville.

Her pride and joy were her girls and she spent copious amounts of time in arenas watching figure skating and at fairgrounds watching cattle shows and barrel racing. She also had a keen interest in her scrupulously tended flower beds, beautiful garden, and the various birds she fed. As her grandchildren arrived, she became “Grandma Extraordinaire.”

Her preparedness, support of others, work ethic, and ambitious nature will be forever remembered and cherished by those who loved her.

Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Oakville 4-H Beef Club.

A LIMB HAS FALLEN

A limb has fallen from the family tree,

I keep hearing a voice that says “Grieve not for me.”

Remember the best times, the laughter, the song,

The good life lived while I was strong.

Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you,

Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest,

Remembering all, now I truly was blessed.

Continue traditions, no matter how small,

Go on with your life, don’t just stare at the wall.

I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin,

Until the day comes we’re together again.
