        With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Marjorie Jeanette Lapchuk on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Portage and District General Hospital. She was 72 years old.
               Marjorie was born at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Yorkton, Saskatchewan on October 6, 1943 to Nicholas and Eva Sereda. The family farmed in the Beaverdale district of Saskatchewan and then moved to Toronto, Ontario for a few years. They later returned to Beaverdale and continued farming with her dad’s brother Mike. Her parents also bought a store in Colmer, Saskatchewan which they operated.
Marjorie was educated at St. Ann's Orphanage School and Colmer School and then later attended St. Henry's Roman Catholic School in Melville, Saskatchewan. She then obtained her R.T. HLT certification in laboratory technology through the University of Saskatchewan, Regina Campus. She then was employed at the Grey Nuns Hospital (later known as the Pasqua) in the biochemistry and bacteriology departments. She later married Bennard Lapchuk on December 11, 1976 and made Portage la Prairie her home which she enjoyed with him and her children for many many years.
               She is survived by her husband Ben, sons Charles (Meghan) and David (Adrienne), grandchildren Addison and Timothy, sister Cecile, nieces and nephews Andrianna (Jeff) Klotz, Arlene (Ed) Williamson, James (Donna) Curran and Brenna Curran, brother in law Bill Lapchuk, many cousins throughout Canada and the United States, and the Malica, Zazula, Elash, Sereda, Curran, and Lapchuk families.
               A memorial mass will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary located at 620 1st Street NW.
               Interment will follow at the Hillside Columbarium.
        In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the MS Society of Canada, #100 1465 Buffalo Place, Winnipeg, MB, R3T 1L8 or the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption, PO Box 1276, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3L5.
