Peter Thomas Hrabluik March 22, 1951 – July 1, 2016
Peter Thomas Hrabluik lost his admirable battle with cancer on July 1, 2016 at the age of 65. Quietly fighting to the end, he spent only one day in the hospital where, surrounded by his brothers and wife, he passed very peacefully.
Born in Gilbert Plains Manitoba, Peter moved to Rossendale at the age of 11. He farmed here, with his parents and devoted wife Amelia, his entire life. Peter’s crops and cattle were his pride and joy - until his grandkids came along.
Freeman, Isabella and Donovan held a special place in his heart. He loved taking them for rides on the tractor, quad, lawnmower or truck, and always sent them home with $20 and tummies full of treats. When he wasn’t spending time with them, he was bragging about them to anyone who would listen.
Peter loved to fish, hunt and socialize with his friends and family. Many get-togethers -lasting into the early hours of the morning and filled with drinks and laughter - were held on the farm, often in his garage.
Gone too soon, Peter will be deeply missed. His sense of humour, generosity and spirited determination will live on in his kids – Coreen (Jonathan), Ryan, Cheryl (Rudy) and Dean (Shelley), and his grandkids – Freeman, Bella and Donovan.
Thank you to all the friends and family who supported Peter, with special thanks to the outstanding CancerCare Doctors and Nurses who made his many treatments more bearable.
Viewing will be held at the Omega Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, July 5th from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
