With family by his side on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at the Concordia Hospital, Gordon Nepinak of Winnipeg, beloved husband of Marjorie Nepinak passed away at the age of 68years.
Wake service began Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at the St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church, Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba, at 5:00pm.
Funeral service will be held at St. Alexander Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1:00pm.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Gordon did many things in his life, beginning with pulp cutter at the age of 6 years, and then to carpentry and fishing, later he became an AA Counselor.  He also worked with Manitoba Hydro and the San Antonio Mines.  For the past 13 years he was a Spiritual Leader and Elder for the Stoney Mountain Institution.  He served on the Prairie’s Regional Elder’s Council and the National Elders Working Group.
Gordon leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 38 years Marge, his children Kenneth (Wendy), Roberta, Shelley (Conray) and Gordon Jr., foster children Austin, Dylan, Percy, Isabella, Drake and Riviera, his grandchildren Farrah, Odessa, Shante, Shuneta, Jonas, Jacob, Chad, Sammy and Kenny, great-granddaughter Maria, his brother Francis, sisters Leona, Delia, Gertrude, Rose (Ken) and Barbara, in-laws Barbara, Elsie (Maurice) Laforte, Beatrice, Julia (John), Sarah, Helen, Henry (Frances), Marcel (Audrey), John and Mary-Anne Nepinak, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Jerome and Christina, brothers Eugene, Valentine (Agnes), John and Albert, his sisters Martha (Raymond) and Lorraine (Dick), father and mother-in-law J.B.D. and Esther Swampy, his brother-in-law and spiritual teacher Ronald “Boyish” Swampy and special nephew Philip Ronald Swampy and Joseph Houle who he helped raise.
Gordon’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion and also a special thank you to the Concordia Hospital Security.

Celeberatory Salutation to our Grandest Warrior called home for sacred duties to a Sacred Grand Council of Master Parliamentarians. We, the First Nation Treaty Veterans salute you and welcome you into our hearts and minds to carry on your work of caring and sharing. Master Parliamentarian, you carried the one law of Spirituality in humility and dignified manner - RESPECT. We now proudly stand tall, head held high for all your kindness and touch of spirit. In our sacred cirlces, we will extend one open hand of friendship palm down and one palm up to accept and grasp the friendship we have and will forever carry. Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to you in the sudden loss of your husband, father, grandfather. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you face this difficult time.
