Bernice Mae Robb

November 27, 1936 ~ January 5, 2018 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Bernice Mae Robb

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our Mom, Bernice Mae Robb, on January 5th, 2018 at her home in Portage la Prairie, MB.

Bernice was born on November 27, 1936 to Charlie and Hazel Kittner, the second of 4 children. She was raised and attended school in the Amaranth area.  Mom went to Winnipeg to get her teaching certificate at Normal School and started teaching at the young age of 16 years in Big Point, Manitoba.  On July 20, 1963 she married John Robb and together they raised two sons, Keith and Ken, on the family farm.  Mom taught junior high for many years in Amaranth before transferring over to Alonsa School where she eventually retired. She had taught for many years and in some cases encompassed teaching three generations of the same family.   She loved to work with kids and made sure everyone was treated fairly.  Mom became a member of the Youth Justice Department to help put kids back on the right track and give them a second chance.  Mom spent many evenings and weekends tutoring math to the children of past students, she had a special touch to help them understand which enabled them to achieve their goals.

In 2008 mom and dad sold the farm and moved into their home in Portage La Prairie and in 2009 she lost her beloved husband.  She lived for her 4 grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Bernice was predeceased by her husband John, her parents and sister Irene.  She will be sadly missed by us, her children; Keith (Shelly) and Ken (Madelene), her grandchildren; Alaina (Mike) Verwey, Leah, Tanner and Alyssa, along with her great granddaughter Shianne, but know in our hearts she has happily rejoined her beloved husband John in heaven.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00  a.m. with Jona Weitzel officiating with a light lunch to follow.  Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
