Iowne Winona Stephenson (Gillespie) 

        On April 7, 2018 at the Portage District General Hospital, Iowne Stephenson passed away just 18 days short of her 90th birthday.  She was predeceased by her husband Earl, son Terry, sister Elva Jackson, brother Mac Gillespie and brother-in-law Philip Stephenson.  She will be sadly missed by her daughter Darlene Park of Florida, USA, son Rick of Calgary, AB, daughter Bev (Ken) Klaassen of Oakville, MB, grandchildren; Kim Park (Greg), Troy (Kim) Park, Tammy Stephenson (Al), Bart Stephenson, Natalie (Sean) Borchert, Natasha Stephenson, Candice (Tyler) Homewood, Travis (Michelle) Klaassen, Tyler (Jackie) Klaassen, Tiffany (Gavin) Winchar, 17 great grandchildren, her sisters Meryl McKeand of Brandon, MB and Betty Goddard of Calgary, AB, sister-in-law Doreen Stephenson of Sidney, MB as well as many other extended family members.

        Iowne was born April 25, 1928 in Douglas, MB to Tom and Eura (Cox) Gillespie.  She married Earl on October 15, 1947 at the family farm in Chater and they settled in Portage in 1959.  She enjoyed her career as an LPN at MDC and Lions Prairie Manor.  The past eight years she spent in Winnipeg and was looking forward to returning to Portage.  She enjoyed knitting, playing cards and BINGO, but her biggest love was being around family, in particular watching all the kids in sports.

        A come and go tea will be held in celebration of Iowne’s life on Saturday, April 21st from 2 – 4 pm at the Oakville Seniors Centre.  In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
