Jennifer Lesley Matthews
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jennifer Matthews on February 22, 2018 at the young age of 38.
Jen was born on October 3, 1979 in Oakville, Ontario. The family moved to Portage la Prairie in 1992. She attended Arthur Meighen High School and then studied to become a Pharmacy Technician at Winnipeg Technical College. She worked in Calgary and Edmonton before returning to Portage la Prairie where she had her two beloved daughters, Isabelle and Stephanie. After the girls started school full-time, Jen worked in the pharmacy at Portage General Hospital.
Jen is survived by her children, Isabelle and Stephanie, her partner Chad Asmundson and his children Leif and Svenja, her mother Janie Mack, father Les (Wendy) Mack, sisters Heather and Yvonne Mack, and ex-husband John Matthews. She is also mourned by cousins Wendy (Chris) Keller and their son Michael, Robyn (Stacey) Anderson, aunt Doreen Anderson and uncle Zoly Koles. On the Matthews side, Jen is remembered by Jackie and Daryl Hanna, “Super Nanny”, the families of Janette and Bryce, Dan and Kara, and Alicia and Ryan. She was predeceased by her sister Jeanette Brinkman.
Jen’s world revolved around her two beautiful girls and the future she was building with Chad. Their home was full of love and laughter. Jen’s drive and passion was an inspiration to all who met her. She could bring a smile to the face of anyone she encountered. The memory of Jen will be a treasure we hold in our hearts forever.
