Joyce Ellen Underwood

     Peacefully on May 11th, 2019,  Joyce Underwood passed away at the Portage General Hospital at the age of 81 with family by her side.

     Joyce is lovingly remembered by daughter Barb (Dwayne) of Red Deer, AB granddaughters Ashley (Colton), Megan (Ricki); great grandson Dawson; son Terry from Mossomin, SK; grandson Peter (Ekho); great grandson Lincoln of Grand Prairie, AB and granddaughter Mona (Stacy) of Winnipeg, daughter-in-law Kathy; granddaughters Shannon, Tricia and Sarah.  Mom leaves her beloved friend Marcel Abraham.  Joyce is also survived by sister Ellamae Lilyholm and brothers; Don (Jean) Orton, Ken (Margaret) Orton all of Portage la Prairie and John Orton from Vernon, BC.  Along with several nieces and nephews.

     She was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur in 1995, daughter Vivian in 1970, son Ernie in 2003 and brother-in-law Alvin Lilyholm.

     Mom was born March 27, 1938.  She met Arthur Underwood and they were married October 20, 1955.  Mom received her education in the Allendale District.  She was fortunate to enjoy a life where she was never working outside the home; thus devoting her time to her children.  Mom enjoyed knitting and crocheting and her grandchildren were recipients of an afghan.  Mom loved to go to McDonald’s for coffee.  She was a faithful TV watcher of the Young and the Restless as well as game shows.  Mom never passed up a good drink.  She will be great missed by many.

      Funeral service for Joyce will be held at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S, Portage la Prairie on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.  Viewing will be held one hour before the service.  Private family interment at Hillside Cemetery. 

     Our family would like to thank all the staff at the Lion's Prairie Manor for the care of our Mother.
