Obituary

Judith Lorraine Harder

On Monday, November 18th, 2019, Judith "Judy" Lorraine Harder passed away peacefully at the age of 68 years in the Portage & District General Hospital.  As a child of God, she has been welcomed into glory by her parents, William and Katherine Harder, infant brother, John, brothers, Abraham William (Bill) and David, and brother-in-law, Paul Asmundson.

Judy is survived by her sisters, Edna (James) Mattson of Winnipeg, Sylvia Asmundson of Portage la Prairie, MB and Leona (Robert) Beamish of Hamiota, MB and sisters-in-law, Patricia and Janice Harder of Gladstone, MB.  Judy will also be remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Judy was born September 24th, 1951 in Gladstone, Manitoba.  She attended the Bear Creek School and later Briercrest Collegiate in Caronport, Saskatchewan.  After high school, Judy went on to study nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1972.  She worked in Gladstone and Brandon, MB.  She loved working on the maternity ward and particularly enjoyed caring for babies and young children.  Judy also attended religious studies at the Winnipeg Bible College and Theological Seminary in Otterburne, MB.

Judy was fond of traveling, visiting Israel twice in the 1980s, along with numerous destinations across Canada.  Judy will be remembered for her devotion to her mother, Katherine, her love of spending time with children and for her humour, wit and infectious laughter which could set a room alight.

The family wishes to thank Anna Cabral for the support given to Judy in the last couple of years.  Judy's family is also grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Portage & District General Hospital for their care, compassion, dignity and respect that was shown to Judy in her final days.  In honor of Judith, her family will be celebrating her life with a private family service.

John 14:1-4

1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God a ; believe also in me. 2My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.”

In my father's house are many mansions
If it were not true he would have told me so
He has gone away to live in that bright city
He's preparing me a mansion there I know

Jesus died upon the cross to bear my sorrow
Freely died that souls like you might have new life
But I know that soon there'll come a bright tomorrow
When the world will all be free from sin and strife

In my father's house are many mansions
If you're true then to this land you'll surely go

Judy, you are now living in the biggest mansion there is and safe in the arms of Jesus.
