Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret Jean Stone

December 29, 1947 ~ December 6, 2017 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Margaret Jean Stone

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret "Jeanne" Stone on December 6, 2017 at the age of 69, peacefully with family by her side after her battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

In loving memory she leaves her husband Charles, her son Stuart (Bekki) and grandchildren Grace, Emma and Ben.  Her daughter Christie, sister Carole (Otto) and brother Fredrick (Marla), in-laws; Shirley Dubois, Lorne and Irene Stone, Don & Betty Stone as well as her many nieces and nephews.  Jeanne was predeceased by her parents Evelyn and Eugene Bodecker.

She was born in Elm Creek, MB on December 29, 1947 and raised on a small farmstead just outside of Elm Creek. After high school she trained as a nurses’ aid for a time then she decided to move to Treherne, MB. It was during her time in Treherne that she met Charles Stone, and they were married March 23, 1968. After a few years in Treherne they decided to move to the town of Carman, MB where she took care of her mother Evelyn. Eventually she relocated to a small hobby farm just outside of Carman where she raised her two children and continued to care for her aging Mother and Aunt Margaret until their passing.

Jeanne had an outstanding warmth and kindness towards those she met and those she knew and loved most. She was hospitable towards her friends and family and genuine in her words and actions, which was an important part of her personality. She had a strong faith, even when she faced hard times in her life; her positive and gentle spirit showed through and will always be remembered.

Jeanne loved children and animals and they seemed to instantly fall in love with her and it is little wonder why. She also had a natural ability to fix things, she was very dexterous and loved working with her hands and always completed a task well.

She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 1, 1962 in Carman MB. Jeanne found great joy in sharing the good news about Jehovah’s Kingdom with others, frequently discussing the Bibles promise of eternal life on a paradise earth with those she met (2 Peter 3:13, Revelations 21:1-5).

We would like to thank friends and family for their overwhelming support during this difficult time as well as medical staff who made her final days in hospital comfortable.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, MB.  A private family interment will take place at a later date.
