Scott Howie Obituary

Scott William Howie

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott William Howie at Portage la Prairie, MB on March 31, 2018.  Scott was predeceased by the love of his life, Isabel, on July 17, 2011.

Scott was born May 3, 1952 in Portage La Prairie to Thomas and Bernice Howie.   He spent his formative years in Poplar Point, MB. During this time he was involved with many different sports but ultimately choosing his favourite, curling!  Scott met Marie Madeline Isabel Boudreau during their employment at the Manitoba Development Center. Scott and Isabel were married on August 7th, 1976 and in April of 1982 became the proud parents of twin boys Clint and Carl.

Scott worked at the Manitoba Development Center for 37 ½ years as an Activities Instructor.  After retirement from the MDC he enjoyed working at the Portage Golf Course until he was needed at home to care for Isabel during her frailty.  Scott was a person who loved the outdoors as that is where he enjoyed most of his time. He would spend most of the summer weekends camping at Millers campground or at Lynch's Point.  He also had a ritual of a Sunday drive that almost always would end up either at Gordie (Linda) Greens farm or Brock Ferguson's house.

Scott was a traveler.... as long as he didn't have to fly, opting to drive from coast to coast across Canada.  He enjoyed his trips to the United States as well, especially if there was a zoo involved along the way.  Scott was also a huge lover of dogs, being the second loves of his life were Bichon and Stitches.  Stitches would ride with him in his truck right up on the center console.

Scott is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Bernice Howie, brother Lee Howie, sister Betty-Anne Palmer.   He leaves behind his two boys Clint (Karrah), Carl (Tracy), his nephews; Sean (Annette) Palmer, Corey (Cecile) Palmer.  Also, many cousins, nephews, nieces along with many in-laws throughout Canada.  He will be fondly remembered by his numerous friends and his loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, MB with lunch and refreshments to follow.  Scott and Isabel will be interred together at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
