Una Myrtle Fries

         Peacefully at home on Monday, January 21, 2019, Una Fries passed away at the age of 78 years.

        Una was preceded in death by her husband Albert (Bert).  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, son Lorne of Portage, daughter Kerri (Rod) of Virden, son Carl (Lisa) of Winnipeg, son Mark of Portage, and granddaughter Veronica of Winnipeg.  Una is also survived by her sisters Eva Tickle and Eileen McLennan, her sisters-in-law Lorraine Dack and Christine Kinney, her brother Ed (Mary) Dack and brother-in-law Johnny Anthonisz.

     Una is predeceased by her parents Edward and Ruth Dack, brother John Dack, brothers-in-law Dick Tickle, Don McLennan, and Glen Kinney, and sister-in-law Alice Anthonisz.

     Una grew up on a farm in the South Ridge district and met Bert when she moved to Portage to continue her education.  She loved nature and the outdoors, and some of her favorite moments were spent camping with her family at Delta Beach.  She was very much into crafts like sewing and cross-stitching, and took great pleasure in hosting family events and decorating for Christmas.  She was positive and family-focused right up to her final moments, and for that she will be deeply missed.

     As per her wishes, no funeral service is planned for her but instead a Come-and-Go Tea will be held at the Herman Prior Center on Saturday, January 26, 2019 beginning at 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Firefighters Burn Fund.
