VERA HOGABOAM

            On January 5th, 2017, at the Lion’s Prairie Manor, Vera Hogaboam, age 87 years, peacefully slipped away. 

            Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 13th, 2017 at 1:00 in the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie, MB.

            She is survived by daughter Sandra and husband Jim Boyachek; granddaughter Charlene and husband Sean Boak, great grandsons Hudson and Hanley Boak; and daughter Patti and husband Ed Hiebert.  She is also survived by sister Irene Belbin and niece Donna Belbin; cousins Frank Sus and Alex Makarchuk. She had several close nieces and nephews whom she treated like her own children and they in return treated her as their mom.

            She is predeceased by her husband Charles (1997), mother Christina (Ilczuk) (1987), step-father Harry Karpik (1976), and father Samuel Makarchuk (1936).

Vera was born July 29, 1929 to parents Sam and Christina Makarchuk (Marrs) at Curtis, MB. She married Charles Hogaboam on Nov 18, 1950.  They farmed near Oakville (SW 6-11-4W) until 1985 when they retired. Vera lived on the farm after Charlie’s passing and moved to the Lion’s Prairie Manor in April (2016).

            Family would like to thank the staff at the Manor and Hospital for the care Mom received over the past year.

            If friends so desire Memorial donations may be made to the Knox United Church, or to the Oakville Cemetery Fund.
