Anna Olivine Arksey
Peacefully on February 6th, 2021 at the Minnedosa Health Centre, Anna Arksey, beloved mother of Ian, passed away at the age of 90 years. Anna was born in Langruth Manitoba, in 1930, to Robert and Isabella Gray (Wright) the second youngest of 14 siblings. She married Raymond Clifford Arksey and had two children, Donna Marie, and Ian Clifford. Anna was a hardworking farm wife. She loved her garden. She could bake like a dream and her angel food birthday cakes were always a hit.
She was gifted with natural music ability and could coax a tune out of most instruments. Time with her family was filled with music. She helped with the various family businesses until, due to health issues, she moved to Portage la Prairie to be near the Doctor. She battled and overcame cancer surgeries, and continued to fight on. Her saying was “There’s nothing so bad that it couldn’t be worse”! She wasn’t very big, but she was determined.
She was the last survivor of that generation. They grew up working hard and taught us about resilience and sacrifice, how to laugh, and to value family. Anna was predeceased by her dear daughter Donna Marie, her Mother and Father and 13 brothers and sisters, Robert W, John, Andrew, Janet Mckay, Marjorie Palmer, George, Norman, Lucy Isfeld, Isobel Thomson, Dorothy Thompson, Irene Oliver, Pearl McIntosh and Marie Magnusson.
Left to mourn are her son Ian Arksey, and numerous nieces and nephews,
The family would like to thank the Erickson Personal Care home and the Minnedosa Hospital, for the friendship and care that she received the last years. A special thank you to nieces Kathy Cleaver and Sharon Foster who were always there to help their Aunty Anna. During the COVID-19 lockdown Sharon visited her regularly and made sure that she had everything she needed.
A Celebration of Life for Anna will be held at a later date.
