Betty Pearl Boyachek

      Peacefully on January 3rd, 2019, surrounded by her family, Betty Boyachek, beloved wife of the late Frank Boyachek, passed away at the Portage & District General Hospital at the age of 84 years.    

     Betty was born on July 17th, 1934, daughter of David and Gertrude Davis at Barrierford, Saskatchewan.  She received her education at Barrierford School and then at a very young age moved to Portage la Prairie and began working at the Sewing Factory.  Betty held other various jobs which included the restaurant Little Portage. 

     On October 20th, 1962 she married Frank Boyachek and together lived on the farm where they raised their two children.  Betty was a woman with many talents and interests with her family always being top priority.  Her interests included sewing, decorating her home, dancing and going on Bus Tours.  Mom and Dad travelled together on many trips south to the USA.  They also travelled to Australia, New Zealand and two trips to Alaska.  The highlight of her travelling was the trip they made to England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. 

     Betty was predeceased by her husband Frank, parents David and Gertrude, brothers; Edward, Jim, Albert and two in infancy, two sisters-in-law; Joy Davis and Lil Davis.  Betty is survived by son Ken (Connie) Boyachek of rural Portage, granddaughters Courtney and Camella, daughter Karen (Marty) of Goodlands, MB and grandson Kyle (Tiffany).  Betty is also survived by brother-in-law Bob (Ilien) Boyachek of Portage la Prairie, sister-in-law Betty (Gus) Finnson of Gimili, MB, sister-in-law Mable Davis of Tisdale, Saskatchewan along with many nephews and nieces.  

      A visitation for Betty will be held on Wednesday, January 9th, 2018 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie.  Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 10th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Church, 15 Tupper St. S., Portage la Prairie. 

     Donations may be made in memory of Betty to Maple Grove Cemetery, Site 42, Comp. 9, RR 3, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A3 or the Portage & District General Hospital, 524 - 5th St. SE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 3A8.  Private family interment to be held.
