David Scott Rogers passed away in hospital in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, on December 9, 2019, at the age of 85 after battling against Alzheimer’s disease at home- cared for to the bitter end by his beloved wife- Juanita Rogers. Predeceased by his dear parents, Harvey Edward Rogers and Esther Maud Scott; brothers Elmer and Robert (and family); sister Edna (and family); son aged 43 Reiner Philippi. Beloved father of Stella Stromness (Ed Stromness- family), Christine Groulx (family) and Ralph Philippi (Arlene Philippi- family). Held dear by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Admired by many another. Veteran and father extraordinaire. Dave was an outdoorsman, skilled aircraft engineer, carpenter, millwright and poet.
Born November 20, 1934 in Brandon, Manitoba, my Pops sought a military life, settling at C.F.B Southport in 1972 and retiring as a sergeant in a career that brought him fulfillment for 25 years and (more importantly), the love of his life and a 48 year marriage. He continued to strive as a hard-working man; building a beautiful home from the ground-up for his family- all the while working and attending Red River College in Winnipeg to yet fulfill a career with The City of Portage la Prairie as an engineer- where he retired.
Services will be provided on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.at Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road South, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
