     It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emil Krawetz.  

     Emil was predeceased by his father John Krawetz on July 5, 1927, his stepfather Peter Perckinzuk on January 25, 1988, his mother Mary Perckinzuk on December 19, 1992, and his brother Bill Perkins on July 29, 2020.

     Emil is survived by his brother John Krawetz (Iris) and many nieces and nephews all of Winnipeg.

     Emil was born April 2, 1926, at his grandfather’s homestead at Sunville district of Glenella, MB.  After his father’s death the family moved to Glencairn, MB.  In 1937 they moved to Portage La Prairie where he attended public schools and the Portage Collegiate.   

     He joined the Army in 1945 and received his discharge in 1946.  In 1947 Emil began work with the C.N.R telegraphs and was a linesman at Rivers, MB for several years. Emil later worked many years as a Telegraph Lines Construction Crew Foreman at various locations in Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, which also included work in Norther Manitoba taking him to The Pas, Flin Flon, Lynn Lake, and Churchill.  

     In 1974 Emil transferred to the C.N.R Transcona Shops where he would work until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Fort Rouge and the Imperials Veteran Branch #252 located at 426 Osborne St in Winnipeg.

     Funeral service for Emil will be held on Friday, April 1st, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie, MB with Wilma Shirriff officiating.   

     In lieu of Flowers, donations may be sent to Cancer Care Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9 or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or a charity of one’s choice.
