Evelyn Sharpe Obituary

Evelyn Irene Sharpe

* Please note that A Come & Go Visitation will be held at the Omega Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 13th, 2020 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.   -  COVID RESTRICTIONS WILL BE IN PLACE.

Peacefully with family by her side, Evelyn Sharpe, beloved wife of the late Lawrence Sharpe, passed away Tuesday, October 6th, 2020 at the age of 94 years.

She will lovingly be remembered by her children Sharon (George), Marlene (Brian), Brenda (Wilfred), 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  She will also be missed by her sister Clara Dietrich and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Sharpe, son Murray and daughter-in-law Marianne, father and mother John & Mariah Gladue, sisters; Rosella, Doris, Marge and one brother Jack.

Evelyn was born on November 1st, 1925 and was raised in the Overhill District.  On July 29th, 1946 she married Lawrence Sharpe and they raised their four children south of Portage on their family farm.

In Evelyn’s younger years she worked as a waitress at the base and outside of the home at the Sewing Factory in Portage for 26 years, until her retirement in 1990.  Evelyn was known as a very hard worker who “did not let the grass grow under her feet”.  She will be fondly remembered for her love of God, family, music, fashion and chocolate cake.

She was well known for her humor and her ability to slip in a quick scripture to anyone who stopped at her home.  Evelyn was able to live on the family farm until she was 91.  For the last three years Evelyn lived at the Douglas Campbell Lodge where she shared a special bond with many staff, residents, and her three closest friends; Jean, Thelma and Annie.

Evelyn will be greatly missed by family, friends and all in the congregation who knew and loved her.  Evelyn was so proud to be known as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Over the years, it was her faith that helped her get through the many trials of life.  Evelyn continuously strived to be a good example in the congregation by faithfully following Jesus’s words in Matthew 24:14.  “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth, for witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of MB, 1379 Kenaston Blvd., Winnipeg, MB   R3P 2T5.
