Lester Keith Anderson
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Lester Keith Anderson on September 2nd, 2021 at home in Portage la Prairie, at the too young age of 49.
Lester was predeceased by his parents, Stuart and Joyce. He is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, Shelley, daughters; Heather and Katrina, brothers; Doug (Sharon) and kids; Ryan and Brittany, Wally (Carly) and kids; Ben, Denise, Haiden and Elden, James (Patti) and kids; Dustin and Jesse. Les will be deeply missed by friends and co-workers too numerous to list.
As the youngest of the Anderson boys, Les was the “little helper”. When they were tearing down buildings, he was the go-get guy. Go get tools, go get water. He was always happy and proud to help and always had a smile.
Les met Shelley in 1992. They married in 1995 and enjoyed 26 years together. They enjoyed a well deserved trip to Mexico with the Friday night club members in January of 2019. They were looking forward to the end of the pandemic as they postponed planning a 25th Anniversary trip, until the world righted itself.
Les was a hard worker and never backed down from a tough task. He was the first to jump in and help without being asked. His easy going manner, cheeky remarks and quick smile will be missed by all who knew him. Les was a quiet presence until you got to know him. Then his humor and smile shone on everyone.
Over the course of his too short life, Les worked as a painter with his close friend Gerry Robb. He then worked for the Portage School Division as a custodian. When Simplot opened in Portage, Les was quick to jump at a new opportunity and challenge. He quickly moved from janitorial, to maintenance, to power engineer. He loved the hands-on challenges of power engineering. Other than 1 year where he moved to McCain Foods as a power engineer, he remained with Simplot and was planning to stay there until retirement. He loved his job and co-workers were like family. He often said, shift work is easy when you work with such awesome people.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 13th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Rd. S, Portage la Prairie, MB led by Wilma Shirriff.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Les’s love of all cats and dogs, donations can be made to PAWS, 121 – 12th St. NE, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 4A2.
