Lori Gaye Heather Peters was born on August 12, 1971, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.  Lori was predeceased by her parents Frank Wescoupe and May Peters, along with her brother Sheldon Peters, brother-in-law Donald Lilley, and fur baby, Moglee

Lori leaves to mourn her daughters; Desiree (Virgil), Lauren, Jasmine, and Heaven-Leigh. Her pride and joy, her granddaughters; Raina (Bow) and Remi. Her brothers; David, Cory, Erric, Brent (Stephanie) and Franklin, her sisters; Sherry, and Shanlee (Jarrid), and nieces and nephews, her Vancouver cousin Carol (Kitty) Cameron. Including long time close friend, Bradley Wescoup.

Lori lived in Portage la Prairie for most of her life.  She lived in Winnipeg and Brandon, but Portage was always home. She graduated from Arthur Meighen High School in 1997. Years later she achieved her Health Care Aide certificate at Lions Prairie Manor.  Health care was her true calling as she loved helping people; she would go above and beyond with care for the families she encountered. Lori loved going to the casino, playing bingo and she had an art for cooking even though she said otherwise.

In February of 2017 Lori was first diagnosed with cancer. You wouldn’t know she was having a bad day because she would face everyday with sarcasm, a smile, and a positive attitude. Lori was given the worst odds to beat this disease.  She would always say; in the end it was a win-win. If she beat it, she got to stay with us; if cancer won, she got to be with her mother, father, and brother along with other loved ones who passed before her.

Lori was an animal lover, she leaves behind her fur babies; Kash, Ryleigh and Cookie. Her fur babies were so smart they knew what O-U-T spelt. When she would come home, she would spend time with Kash and Ryleigh would be crying for her attention. Her fur babies will miss the love and attention she gave them.

After her first diagnosis, she was forced to retire from being a health care aide. Lori became restless and wanted to go back to work. She found a position working for the bingos at the Keeshkeemaquah. There she found her bingo family through co-workers and customers. She extended her family by finding a position at Dakota Ojibway Child and Family Services. She would care for them by making them a meal and sharing it with them during shift. Don’t forget though, she claimed she couldn’t cook. She made an impact in these places and became good friends with her supervisors.

The family would like to send out thank you to the staff at the St Boniface Hospital and Portage General Hospital. Any donations made in her name can be sent to Cancer Care MB, 675 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or Diabetes Foundation, 1 Wesley Ave suite 207, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6 .

Lori loved the colour pink. If able, the family requests to wear “Pink” to the services. We will honour her and her courageous fight with her love for the colour pink.
