Mae Sanderson

     Mae passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019, at the Lion’s Prairie Manor at 101 years old. Left to mourn her passing are her son Garry (Darla) Sanderson and granddaughters Claudia (Cam) Verwey, Carley (Kurt) Wood, and Camille Sanderson; daughter Sheila (Joe) Shyiak and granddaughters Kim Strain and Shelley (Len) VanUden; and granddaughter Tracey (Andy) Taylor; along with 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

     Mae was predeceased by her parents John and Eva Turner, husband Jack Sanderson, brother Jimmy Turner, son Bryan Sanderson, daughter-in-law Barb, grandson Bryan Jr., and grandson-in-law Micheal Strain. 

     Mae was born at home in Oakland, MB on May 19, 1918 and lived there until she married Jack and moved onto the Sanderson farm a few miles away. She lived on the farm for 78 years, until just before her 101st birthday. Mae and Jack loved attending dances and bonspiels, shopping trips to the Portage Co-Op, and Sunday drives. Mae had a strong love of animals, gardening, skating, and music. She was a talented pianist and enjoyed working in the garden on the farm. Mae loved watching her game shows, checking the crops, and playing cards (she was never easy to beat). She enjoyed Sunday visits with family and friends, where the coffee pot was always on. Family meant everything to her and she was a strong support to her children and grandchildren through the years.

     As per Mae’s request, there will be no funeral service. A private family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
