Muriel Williams Obituary

Muriel (Bud) Evelyn Williams

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel (Bud) Evelyn Williams, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Muriel was reunited with her husband in her heavenly home on October 31st at the age of 99 years.

Muriel was born on a farm north of Lavinia to Wesley and Irene Cochran on April 3rd, 1922.  She was the second oldest of four sisters who remained close throughout their lives.

Muriel married Roy (Doc) Williams on June 6th, 1942.  They had three daughters; Lillian, Yvette and Garda.  Bud and Doc lived in Lavinia until 1994 and then moved to Southport after a fire destroyed their home.  After Doc’s passing, Muriel moved to Rotary, then to live with her daughter, Yvette and lastly to a care home.

Muriel was an avid quilter who made many quilts for her immediate and extended family.  She also enjoyed crocheting, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens and sewing, which included sewing her niece’s wedding dress.  She had a love of history and read many historical books.  Doc and Bud loved taking trips to Ottawa and Edson to see their daughters and families and to BC to see her sisters and their families.  Muriel was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.  She was very hospitable and was always prepared to feed those that dropped by some baking or a full meal.

She drove the school bus in the Hamiota district for several years, forming lasting relationships with the children she drove.

Family was very important to her.  She enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives.  She loved telling many stories about each one of them.

Muriel was predeceased by her husband Roy (Doc) Williams, her sisters; Aleta, Wilma and Dolores, her daughter Garda, her son-in-law Ed and her grandson Mark.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Lillian and Yvette, her grandchildren; Dennis, Dianne (David), Eddie (Shannon), Ryan (Victoria), her great-grandchildren; Danton, Conner, Kieran, Talia, Regan, Ty, Colton, Brooklynn, Jordyn, along with her extended family.

In respecting Muriel’s wishes, a private family graveside service will take place at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Muriel’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
