Obituary

Olga Turko 

      With great sadness we announce the passing of Olga Turko, on Thursday, March 17th, 2022, surrounded by love and family at Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie, at the age of 91 years.

      She leaves to mourn her passing daughter Mickey (Steve), son Murray, and daughter Shelley.  Grandchildren Chris (Lorna), Craig (Amber), Amy (Wayne), great-grandchildren; Alyssa, Cole, Anna and Emily, and brother John Zalluski.  Along with numerous nieces and nephews across Canada, the United States and abroad. 

     Olga was predeceased by her husband Peter, infant daughters Patricia and Barbara.   Her parents John & Eva Zalluski, sisters; Katherine, Catherine, Sophie, Minnie, Ann, and Mary, brothers; Peter, Paul, Gymtoro (Jim), Alex, Steven and Joey. 

     Mom worked in many different types of jobs throughout her life.  Up to her retirement, Mom worked in the health care field at the Manitoba Developmental Centre.

     Mom had several hobbies.  She loved her crafts, her flower garden, her fruit orchards and her vegetable garden.  She shared the fruits of her labor with her family and friends.

     Mom volunteered at her church Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. John’s Ambulance Service and at the Herman Prior Centre. 

     She loved going on the Senior Bus Trips, along with trips back home to Alonsa to visit family and old friends.  In her quiet moments, Mom loved to sit outside and listen to all her songbirds and chat with her friends and neighbours.

     Prayers will be held on Friday, March 25th, at 2:00 p.m. at Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie, MB with Father Yaroslav Strukhlyak presiding.  A private family interment to follow.  Kindly wear your masks while attending the service.
