Peter R. Neudorf

On Friday, June 4th, 2021, at the age of 90, Peter R. Neudorf of Portage la Prairie, went home with Jesus, peacefully at the Douglas Campbell Lodge with family at his side.

Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna, his brothers; Jacob, Henry, George and Abe, granddaughter-in-law Megann (beloved wife of Tom Neudorf).

Left to cherish his memory are his sons; Albert (Evelyn) and their children; Tom, Lyle (Odile) and Jed (Kalene), his son Philip (Nettie) and their son Jurian (Sam).  Along with his sister Annie, nieces, nephews and many cherished friends.

Peter was born October 24th, 1930 and grew up in Swan Plain, Saskatchewan.  After Bible College, Peter worked with youth in Toronto, coming back to his sweetheart Anna in Saskatchewan, whom he later married in 1959.

They started their family in Saskatoon where he was a carpenter, excelling with promotions to inspector.  Later he co-pastored a rural church and worked on the family farm near Hague, Saskatchewan.  They later moved to a new location, moving the house he built with them, where the family started a mixed, primarily hog, farm.  In 1972 the family moved to Manitoba to be closer to extended family in the Edwin area, and farmed until retirement in 1990.  Moving to Portage, Dad’s retirement consisted of rabbit farming and writing a large collection of poetry, all the while remaining vibrant in Prairie Alliance Church and faithful in his lifelong commitment to Jesus his Saviour.

In 1990 Peter and his wife moved into an apartment, where he continued to reside after Anna’s passing in 2006 and until Easter of 2019 when mobility issues no longer allowed.  Peter enjoyed being independent and was often seen driving his scooter on the Crescent Lake path.  He will always be remembered for his unwavering faith and focus on Jesus, his service to his church and his poems of praise.

A heartfelt thankyou is extended to all of Peter’s caregivers who frequently became personally attached to him wherever he was.  Thank you as well to all who took the time to visit Dad whenever restrictions allowed.

A come and go visitation will be held on Friday, June 11th from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m at Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S, Portage la Prairie, MB.  Covid protocol will be in place.  A private family service will be held Saturday, June 12th at Omega Funeral Home.  Interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Peter never lost his heart for children and if friends so desire, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to a child sponsorship charity of one’s choice.

 “Home with Jesus,

Embraced in His Arms,

That set them free,

With Him to be,

For all Eternity”
