Rowland "Rolly" Brooks

     Peacefully on March 6, 2023, Rowland “Rolly” Alfred Brooks, passed away at the Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 87 years. 

     Rolly is survived by his wife Bunny (nee Tully) of 64 years, sons; Dan (Shelley), Ron (Sandy), Jeff (Dawn) and Greg (Shawna), as well as his grandchildren; Jason, Bryant (Larissa), Dustin (Mason), Cheyenne, Sierra (Steve), Jordan (Rhiana), Ryan (Destiny), Brendan (Martine), Delaney (Matt), Mackenzie (Bailey), Nicole, and Lindsey (Marc), and his great-grandchildren; Devin, Ethan, Abigail, Veronica, Amelia, Rowland, Oliver and Jude.  Siblings; Jean Michaluk, May Garnham and Doreen Hildebrand, sisters-in-law; Christine Jackson and Martha Brooks, brothers-in-law; Doug Garnham and Norman Hildebrand and many nieces and nephews.

     Rolly is predeceased by his siblings; Muriel and her husband Bud Doherty, Pokey, infant brother Robert, Doug and his wife Carol, brothers-in-law; Steve Michaluk and Donald Jackson, and nephews Kenny Michaluk and Leslie Doherty.

     Rolly was born on February 2, 1936, in the Parish of High Bluff, Manitoba to Alfred Rowland Brooks and Emma Pearl Brooks (nee Johnson).  He grew up in the Portage la Prairie area and started working for Portage Co-op in 1950 for his entire career until 1996. Rolly and Bunny were married in 1958 and resided in Oakville, Manitoba raising their sons.  Seeing his family especially the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren was an enormous joy.  Curling (playing and watching), carpentry, tinkering, having coffee with his many Oakville friends were among his favourite past-times, Sunday drives and Fall Suppers throughout southern Manitoba.

     The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie, MB and McGregor Health Centre – Personal Care Home.

     To honor Rolly, a Graveside Service will be held at a later date, with details available closer to that time.
