     It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Roy Joseph Lamirande on October 29th, 2020 at the Portage General Hospital at the age of 79 years, with his family by his side.

     Roy will be loving remembered by his wife Mathilda Lamirande (nee Houle), children; Rebecca (Ken Sandney), Napolean (Jennifer), Brian, Keith (Jennifer), Freddie (Debbie), Darryl “Chuggie” (Sandy), Cindy (John), Lana (Albert), brother Kenny “Rabbit” (Fran), sisters-in-law; Leona (Rick), Elizabeth (Jim), brothers-in-law; Eddie (Claudia) and Lloyd (Betty), along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Norman Arnason. 

     Roy was predeceased by his parents Michael Joseph and Marie Louise Lamirande (nee Lavallee), brothers; Clifford, Walter and Eddie, sisters; Ida, Rita and Delia, son Christopher and infant daughter Patricia. 

     Roy was born July 29th, 1941 to Michael & Marie Lamirande in St. Ambroise, MB and was raised there.  He worked for the Mushroom Plant and then moved on to work for Ellwood-McRorie Construction and Carpentry.  Roy also worked for various farmers and side jobs. 

      Dad loved hunting, fishing and trapping with his children and close friends.  He also loved planting gardens.  Dad had a big heart and helped anyone he could.  He had an amazing sense of humor that lit up a room and would make everyone laugh with his jokes.  Dad gave his heart to the Lord and he walked with him until his passing.

     Dad was an amazing man and he will be missed dearly by all of his family and friends.  Until we meet again.

     A Come & Go Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie, MB.   Please note covid restrictions will be in place.  Due to covid restrictions a private family funeral service will be held to celebrate Roy’s life.
