Russell Edwin Ferris

     Russell Edwin Ferris, of Portage la Prairie, MB, passed away in his sleep on May 31st, 2022 at the Portage & District General Hospital at the age of 86 years. 

     He was predeceased by his father William Ferris, his mother Ellen Ferris, his brothers and their wives; Douglas & Sheila Ferris, Clifford & Betty Ferris, half-sisters, half-brother, father-in-law, mother-in-law and numerous brothers-in-law. 

     Dad was born in Bowsman River, MB on November 5th, 1935.  He spent his early years in Swan River before moving with his family to MacGregor, MB in 1945. 

     Russell and Margaret were married November 16th, 1968.  They moved to Portage la Prairie and had their three girls.  He worked for the City of Portage la Prairie for 35 years, retiring for 2 days and then went to work for Wal-Mart for the next 16 years – then, officially retired. 

     Our Dad will be lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret (nee Turner), daughters; Sharon (Darrel) Knelsen, Barb (Brad) Poole, Valerie (Steve) MacDonald.  Grandkids; Kevin (Blythe) MacDonald, Stephanie (Brady) MacDonald, Michael (Katie) MacDonald and Ashley (Graham) MacDonald.  Great-grandchildren; Hector, Gwenevere and Eva.  He will also be missed by his “fourth” daughter Allison Green Chapellaz, along with his daycare buddies Opie and Rusty. 

     A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie.  Interment to follow at MacGregor Cemetery.
