Dorothy Martha White (nee Berry)

     Following a lengthy illness, our mother Dorothy passed away peacefully at the Lions Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie on June 21st, 2019.

     Left to cherish her memory are her sons Gordon and Douglas (Jackie), sister Evelyn Durant, brother John, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Albert. 

     Dorothy was born March 9th, 1930 on the farm in the Grassmere District.  She attended Grosse Isle School and after graduation, she worked for the Manitoba Telephone System in Stonewall and Morris as an operator and supervisor.

     Dorothy married Albert in 1964 and they made their home on the farm in the Longburn District.  While helping with the farm work and raising a family she still found time to be an avid reader, a self-taught crafter and a great cook, but working in her beautiful flower and vegatable garden was her favourite activity.  Dorothy was treasurer of the Westbourne U.C.W. for many years.

     For the past 18 years, Lions Prairie Manor was her home where she was cared for by the staff of the Alzheimer’s Unit.   Words cannot express our appreciation and thanks to the staff, past and present for the dignified compassionate care she received. 

     Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 27th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road S., Portage la Prairie, MB.  Interment will take place at the Longburn Cemetery.
