It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Peter Gravert peacefully at home on May 6, 2019 in Portage la Portage at the age of 73 years.
Lovingly remembered by his daughters Dagny (Andrew) Maicher and Silja Gravert, his son Delf Gravert, as well as his grandchildren Christoph, Owen and Oliver. Also left to mourn is his sister Gesche Gravert (Günter Nonnenmacher), his dear nephews Michael (Melanie), Stefan (Marion) and Thomas Wriedt, and his good friend Sheila Swabuck and her children Ted and Leah. Peter was predeceased by his parents Marga and Johann Gravert, our mother Renate Gravert-Martens, and his sister Telse (Bodo) Wriedt.
Peter was born in Krempdorf, Germany on May 8, 1945. Always one for forging new ground and following his heart, he left the Gravert family farm (est. 1589) with his young family and moved to continue farming in the Salem district, south of Portage la Prairie. Eventually Peter moved into Portage la Prairie where he worked many years with Bee-Clean. He was dedicated to his work up until the end and always took pride in a job done well. A true inspiration. He maintained many friendships and loved sharing a good coffee.
His spirit of camaraderie, generosity and self determination will not soon be forgotten. We love and appreciate you Papa.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Portage la Prairie Army Navy on Sunday May 12, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
