Diana Knott Obituary

Diana Lynn Knott

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diana (Sandney) Knott on September 22, 2020 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba following a long and courageous battle from the effects of Lupus and a heart condition. Diana was predeceased by her daughter Tanya Lynn Knott; her parents Lawrence and Irene Sandney; sister-in-law Cathy Sandney, nephew Brett Sandney and nephew-in-law Vinny Wilson; father and mother in-law Tootie and Ellen Knott; brothers and sisters-in-law Ed and Anne Knott, Buck and Marion Knott, Orville Holmes, Elliott Schneider and Gib Berard.

Diana is survived by her devoted husband Robert, their son Jason (Nicole) and grandchildren Kailyn,Tyler and Nevaeh as well as siblings; Larry/Donna, Raymond/Shelley, Blanche/Len Asham, Carrol, Lindy/Ken Knott, Peter/Fern, Ken/Becky, Gerald/Alison, Mike/Donna, Robert/Karen, Shelley/Ken Doell and Rickie; in-laws: Mary Holmes, Hazel Schneider, Roddy/Millie Knott, Edith Berard, Roy/Betty Knott, Sharon/Ian MacLellan, John/Barb Knott and Les/Sheila Knott; Godchildren:  Karen Rampl, Sean Sandney, Hope Fashoway, Michelle Laverty and Jennifer Furet, along with many nieces, nephews and friends who are deeply grieving her loss and are comforted by her strength, endurance, faith and humour throughout her life.

Diana is the 7th child in the line of thirteen children to Irene and Lawrence Sandney. She was born on Sept. 23, 1957 in Portage la Prairie where she joined her wonderful and fun loving brothers and sisters and the siblings that followed establishing the life long bonds of love and friendship that they all endure to this day.

Diana was educated in Portage la Prairie. Later in life she returned to school where she achieved her goal of attaining her high school diploma. She met her lifelong soul mate and life partner, Robert Knott at the sweet age of 15. They were married on June 07, 1975 and had 45 wonderful years of making lifelong memories together. They welcomed their beautiful son Jason, born December 19, 1981; who became the light and joy of their lives.

Diana worked for the Manitoba Developmental Centre and then spent 41 years working at McCain Foods where she made many lifelong friendships.

As she was an ambitious and energetic gal, her life was full of many interests. Diana enjoyed cooking, traveling, gardening, collecting dolls, crocheting and decorating for the holidays. What she loved most was spending time with family and friends playing cards (especially 31, Canasta and Crib), line dancing, daily car rides, going to the casino/bingo.

She spent many years volunteering for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Army and Navy, as well as for the Portage Hockey League throughout Jason's hockey years.

Even though Diana’s health issues plagued her throughout the years she was never one to complain. Diane took it all in stride and told people not to worry that she would be ok.

Above all of these incredible achievements, Diana was an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to have known her.

She is deeply loved and will be forever missed!
