Joyce Noella Beaulieu

April 12th 1966 – April 8th 2016

Peacefully, with her family by her side, on Friday April 8th, 2016 at the Health Science Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Joyce started her journey home to the spirit world at the age of 49 years.

Joyce is mourned by her family: Her husband Tony Perswain of 22 years, her son Eric and daughter in-law Jen along with her 3 grandchildren Charles, Mahto and Robyn, who she cherished with all her heart; Danny Myran; ; her sisters Kathy, Phyllis (Bud), Lorelei, Sharon, Bev, Shawna (Lloyd), Alice (Chris) and Annette (Roland) her brothers Sparky (Darlene), Quincey (Pauline), Reg (Adrienne) and Ben (Stephanie) and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce is predeceased by her parents George and Mederise and infant sister Rhonda.

Joyce grew up in Long Plain First Nation and attended school in Portage La Prairie. Through her career in finance, she worked at Yellowquill College, Toronto Dominion Bank and at Long Plain School as a Teachers assistant.

Joyce was a very strong minded woman. She always took care of everyone in her family and loved having people over to visit. She loved to talk to her sisters on the phone and get silly. She also loved family gatherings and just hanging out. She adored all her nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and community.

Many miigweches to Portage General Hospital staff, All nurses on ward GA 4 at the Health Science Center including the ICU, and especially Dr. Penner, Also a big thank you to the Long Plain Chief and Council and a very special miigwech to Liz Yellowquill and Barb Esau for making things more easier for the family.

Traditional Wake will be held Tuesday, April 12th at 4:00 p.m. at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge followed by Traditional Feast and Service on Wednesday April 13th at Noon. Her body will be laid to rest at Long Plain cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tony Perswain, Eric Beaulieu, Reg Beaulieu, Ben Beaulieu, Sparky Assiniboine, Quincy Beaulieu and Cyril Beaulieu. Honorary pallbearers are the rest of her family and friends.
