The news of Doug's passing is very sad. What great friends and neighbours Doug and Bev were in Steinbach more than 50 years ago, and for years since. Our thoughts are with you Bev and family.

My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family during your time of loss. I was very fortunate to get to know Doug through many years of fastball. His commitment to this sport at all levels was just an example of the person he was in regards to his commitment to family and community. I was very fortunate to be involved with Doug as part of the group that went out and fund raised so we could have a new diamond with lights in our community. Doug set the bar for the rest of us in that group to keep up and get the job done which with Doug's relentless dedication we did. The #9 diamond at Republic Park is just a small example of how Doug served his community. Doug was an example to all of us that giving was something people should do for their community without looking for or expecting accolades. Doug was an example that people do make a difference in their community just by their positive involvement and willingness to give freely of their time and energy. He was a great example to all us and will be greatly missed in our community. Keep the wonderful memories close.

I have know & worked with Doug during his softball days , he was a fine man , a good umpire , a great guy ; the Angels are always near to those who are grieving , to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God. Amen !
