It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Ronald Cecil Peters on October 4th, 2016 in his residence at Long Plain First Nation, MB at the age of 73 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Peters (nee West); children Bonnie (Jack), Sheldon Peters, Tammy Peters and Chad Peters; grandchildren Dillan (Acelynn), Nicholas and Noah; step-grandchildren Doug and Trent; brothers Norman Peters and Kenneth Peters; sisters Grace (Martin) Fontaine and Doris Blackbird (Dale); sister-in-law Elizabeth Peters as well as numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.

Ron is predeceased by his father Wallace Peters; mother Helen Peters; brothers Huey, Edward, Robert-Wallace, Roy and Rudy; sister-in-laws Linda and Evelyn and brother-in-law Ross.

Ron went to Birtle Indian Residential School from 1955 to 1961. Dad worked for CP Rail right up to his retirement. He enjoyed playing guitar, going to bingo, watching sports (his favourite team was the Toronto Blue Jays), going to Pow Wows, visiting with friends from all over, visiting with his siblings for coffee every morning and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Dad struggled for the past 10 years, first with Hodgkins Lymphoma which he overcame and then with his cardiovascular disease. Dad was a strong man physically and emotionally. He was in and out of hospitals for the past 5 years, he fought with every intent to be here longer with his family. He was at home at the time of his passing which is what he wanted.
